It's the time of year to party hard.

Partying hard is, ahem, not easy.

It's difficult.

You keep yourself awake, eating a little food very late, and surrounded by music loud enough to cause instant deafness--restricting your conversation to 'What?' and 'What??'--and this is all not easy.

Hence, 'party hard'.
